Someone is spreading rumors around Deadwood that Violet Parker likes to chat with dead folks.
With her reputation endangered, her bank account on the verge of extinction, and her career at risk of going up in flames, Violet is desperate. When the opportunity to sell another vintage home materializes, she grabs it, even though this "haunted" house was recently the stage for a two-act, murder-suicide tragedy.
Ghost or no ghost, Violet knows this can't be as bad as the last house of horrors she tried to sell, but sexy Doc Nyce has serious doubts. Her only hope of hanging on to her job is to prove that the so-called, ghostly sightings are merely the eccentric owner's optical delusions.

But someone-or something-in the house wants Violet stopped...dead.
My review:
We first met Violet Parker in Nearly Departed in Deadwood (see my review here).Violet is a single mother of twins, trying to start a career in real estate and loves to wear her colorful cowboy boots. In this sequel there is less boot wearing, but still the same wacky loveable (and sometimes creepy!) characters and Violet still seems to find trouble wherever she goes. Lots of humor, a few ghosts, some steamy romance and a whole lot of colorful turns of phrase. This sequel does not disappoint.
If you love funny, romantic, not too serious mysteries this is one you'll enjoy - but be sure to read Nearly Departed in Deadwood first. It will make Optical Delusions that much more enjoyable.
About the author (from her website):

My books are mysteries full of mayhem
and fun, romance and comedy, and whatever else feels right. I am a
member of Sisters in Crime and the Guppies, and I have been a member of
Romance Writers of America for so many moons that I’ve lost count.
I have written several contemporary,
award-winning novels, including a couple of different series. I am
currently toiling away on my next. While my reading preferences range
from adventure to horror to mystery, ever since I tried on my first
training bra, I have loved a good mix of romance, too.
When I am not dabbling in fiction, I am
penning writing-themed articles or standing on my workshop soapbox,
sharing what I have learned over the years about the craft and
self-promotion.
