Water (Book One of the Akasha Series) by Terra Harmony

Book Blurb:
Elemental powers in the palm of her hand…and it won’t be enough to save her.

When Kaitlyn Alder is involuntarily introduced to a life of magic, she becomes part of an organization hell-bent on saving the Earth. Just as her new-found life holds promises of purpose, romance, and friendship, the organization divides and a rogue member holds Kaitlyn hostage. Now one of the most terrifying men the human race has to offer stands between her and Earth’s survival.

Water is a contemporary eco-fantasy, the first of a four book series.  This novel contains adult language and sexual situations (some non-consensual).

My review:
Sadly, I cannot keep up on what all my friends are reading.  There is just not enough time in the day to discuss books with as many people as I'd like. A couple of weeks ago I
received a request from Terra to review her novel Water, Book One in the Akasha Series and it looked pretty good to me so I said, sure - why not? Lo and behold when I got to the end of the book, I found quotes from two of my friends who are also bloggers regarding the second book in the series titled Air! And of course one of them had to make a comment that makes me even more impatient to get my hands on it!

As stated in the warning in the book blurb, although it is not the primary theme of this book, fairly explicit rape does occur and the book contains semi-frequent violence. Please take that into consideration if those themes offend you.

Kaitlyn Alder is an orphan who frequently travels for work, and when she's kidnapped there is no one to miss her. She finds herself in a world she can't escape from, and with power she never realized she possessed.

She's surrounded by strangers. There's Cato, who knew her parents and has been corresponding with her without her realizing who he is. There is Alex, who has no power but must teach her the ways of the Chakra. There is Micah who is assigned to guard her and teach her to harness her power. They share a connection like she's never before experienced, but does she really know him? And there is Shaun who hates her, but on whom she must rely.

This is an exciting new fantasy series, and although I got a little frustrated with some of the characters for immature behavior, well - I know a lot of immature people in real life too.

I really enjoyed Water but it left me wanting to know so much more! I can't wait to read Air!
