A Stolen Life by Jaycee Dugard

My Rating: Four Stars

At the age of 11, while walking to her school bus stop in the morning Jaycee Dugard was abducted by a perverted pedophile and his wife. Jaycee spent the next 18 years of her life verbally and physically abused by this couple and forced to bear two children when she was only a child herself. Although she has made great strides in her recovery the torment she endured will haunt her forever.

This is Jaycee's story in her own words. It is poignant and powerful, heartbreaking and heartwarming. Jaycee is a remarkable woman and survived what many could not.

Her story brings hope to those who have missing loved ones.

I highly recommend this book.

  1. This has been on my wishlist forever. I watched her interview, and really wanted to read it, but it's a little frightening. Did it stay with you for days afterwards?

  2. If you are the kind of person who has trouble reading or hearing about bad things that happen it might be hard for you to read. I mostly just felt really bad for her in what she went through, but also was really amazed by how well she has dealt with it all and how just plain normal she seems after experiencing all of that. She seems pretty happy now.
